De Zerbi backs Marmoush to break Spurs' goal drought

Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi has defended Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, calling for patience as the attacker continues to adapt ahead of their Carabao Cup third-round tie against Liverpool at Anfield.

Speaking to reporters on Monday evening ahead of the cup clash on Merseyside, the Italian tactician addressed the external scrutiny surrounding Marmoush.

De Zerbi highlighted that the player faces a completely different tactical environment and squad role compared to his previous spell at Manchester City.

"Omar Marmoush needs time to prove his quality with Tottenham, things here are different from Manchester City.. Marmoush also needs to play and the responsibility here is much greater than at Manchester City" De Zerbi stated.

Reaffirming his belief in the 27 year old's capabilities, the manager added:

"Omar Marmoush must adapt to Tottenham. He possesses wonderful quality and operates at a very high technical level"
