Democratic Republic of Congo: Exceptional rewards for the Leopards after historic World Cup qualification
The Democratic Republic of Congo is celebrating on April 5 after securing World Cup qualification for the first time in 52 years. During a ceremony at the People's Palace, President Félix Tshisekedi announced that the national team players and technical staff would receive exceptional rewards worthy of this monumental achievement.
Each player and member of the technical staff will receive a brand new Jeep, a cash prize, and a plot of land.
This announcement comes after the Leopards defeated Jamaica (1-0) in extra time—a victory that secured DR Congo a ticket to the World Cup for the first time in 52 years.
President Tshisekedi expressed his pride and gratitude to the players and technical staff for their hard work and dedication, before challenging them: "From now on, qualifying for the World Cup must become a regular habit."
