Real Madrid: Kylian Mbappé already talks about his retirement

In an interview with Sorare, Kylian Mbappé reflected on his illustrious career and his future retirement.

Kylian Mbappé has experienced it all in his career. When asked about retirement, the captain of the French national team explained that he never set an age for himself and that the mind often decides for the body. For him, knowing when to leave is just as important.

"What am I missing in my career? The easy answer would be to say winning every title, but there are players who have done more than just win every trophy. There’s always more to achieve in football. I don’t know about other fields, but in football, people are forgetful; you can win everything and the next day, it’s forgotten—and I’m not even talking about if you won years ago. If you don’t keep doing it, someone else will take your place, because that’s just the cycle of life and sport. Am I afraid of being forgotten? In football, we call it 'the little death.' When you’ve tasted glory and move on to the next chapter, life goes on. In our profession, you can retire young, but life continues. However, I don’t think I’ll miss the daily routine. Traveling, training—I won’t miss that (laughs). But competition, that I’ll miss. At what age will I retire? The body, but above all, the mind will decide. The way you exit is crucial for a player. I see it with the new generation. I’m lucky to have a younger brother, and when I watch football with him, I notice it. Players I used to watch as a kid, for him, they were already at the end of their careers and, to him, they’re 'finished' because they didn’t retire at the right moment. I’d tell him, 'Are you crazy or what?' Like I say to Ethan, he’s a 2006 kid, he doesn’t even know the CR7 from Man United. You stop when you no longer have the full motivation to be among the elite.", said the former PSG star.
