Germany: last-minute injury sparks worst fears

Just days before the kickoff of the 2026 World Cup, bad news has disrupted the Mannschaft’s preparations. An injury sustained during training has caused widespread concern and already forced the German staff to consider alternative scenarios.

Anxiety is mounting in Germany as the 2026 World Cup approaches. The Mannschaft is holding its breath after Lennart Karl, one of the brightest hopes of German football, suffered an injury during training. While his withdrawal hasn’t been made official yet, the outlook is far from optimistic.

Speaking at a press conference, Julian Nagelsmann didn’t hide his concern:

"Lennart Karl suffered an injury during training today. That’s not a good sign. He went to the hospital and will undergo scans. We have to wait for the diagnosis to see if he can play at the World Cup or if we’ll need to call up a replacement."

Given the situation, several names are already being mentioned to join the squad should the young Bayern Munich player be ruled out. According to the German press, Said El Mala and Chris Führich are among the main options being considered by the coach. While awaiting the medical results, all of Germany remains on edge for the verdict.
