Former US President Donald Trump praised Al Ahly during ceremony at the White House held to honor Inter Miami after the club won the Major League Soccer (MLS) title for the first time in its history.
During his speech, Trump referred to Inter Miami’s matches in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 recalling their group-stage games against top clubs from around the world.
Reference to Club World Cup clash
Trump highlighted Inter Miami’s opening match against Al Ahly, describing the Egyptian side as “the best club in Egypt” and praising the quality of the team.
He also pointed to the performance of Inter Miami goalkeeper Oscar Ustari who played a key role in securing the draw. Trump said the goalkeeper delivered a brave display and helped the American side earn important result against a talented opponent.
Messi and Suarez also mentioned
The former president also spoke about Inter Miami’s draw against the top Brazilian club in the group stage praising a goal scored by Luis Suarez whom he described as one of the greatest strikers in football history.
The event celebrated Inter Miami’s recent achievements and highlighted the team’s international exposure through global competitions.
Inter Miami faced Al Ahly in the opening match of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 which was held in the United States. The game ended in 2-2 draw, with Lionel Messi’s team later advancing to the next round.
However Inter Miami’s run ended in the round of 16 after a 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
