Produced by Balich Wonder Studio, the prematch spectacle masterfully blended international beats with deep rooted local heritage.

Global icons command the stage
The musical lineup delivered heavy hitting star power. Global pop icon Shakira teamed up with Nigerian sensation Burna Boy for the very first live performance of the official tournament anthem, Dai Dai.
This milestone marked Shakira’s historic fourth appearance at a FIFA World Cup opening, firmly cementing her legacy on football's biggest stage.
A star-studded build-up
Fans who arrived 90 minute early were treated to a festival atmosphere. Legendary rock band Maná set the tone, followed by energetic sets from Belinda and J Balvin who electrified the crowd with his smash hit Que Calor.
Regional favorites like Lila Downs, Danny Ocean and Los Ángeles Azules ensured the fiesta remained authentically Latin.
Historical venue breaks new ground
By hosting this spectacle, the Estadio Azteca cemented its place in football immortality.
It is officially the first venue in history to host matches in three separate World Cup tournaments having previously hosted the legendary finals of 1970 and 1986. While the United States and Canada share hosting duties for this expanded edition, the Azteca remains the undisputed spiritual home of North American football.
Emotional anthems precede kickoff
Before the tactical battles began, Alejandro Fernández delivered a spine tingling rendition of the Mexican national anthem. Immediately after, Grammy winning artist Tyla performed the South African anthem setting a powerful, emotional tone for the inaugural clash.
Shakira's return to the pitch instantly evokes memories of her legendary 2010 performance in South Africa.
Her global anthem Waka Waka did not just define that summer, it remains the best selling World Cup song of all time. Just as that tournament brought the globe to the African continent for the first time.
