Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Jasond Gonzalez was sent off as Nantong Zhiyun FC edged Shenzhen Juniors 1-0 in the Chinese League One.

Yubiao Deng scored the decisive goal 10 minutes from the first whistle, before the Colombia international received a second yellow card deep in stoppage time.

With two games remaining in the 2026 second-tier campaign, Gonzalez will miss the clash against Changchun Yatai on Saturday.

His team has all but secured promotion to the Chinese Super League as they are seven points ahead of third-placed Guangxi Hengchen.

The 27-year-old centre-forward proved instrumental in the promotion race, scoring a staggering 10 goals with a solitary assist in 14 league outings.

He completed a move to China on a free transfer in July 2026 after parting ways with Bolivian side Club Always Ready upon his return from a loan spell in Israel.

Gonzalez is no stranger to the Chinese second division as he previously spent time with Shijiazhuang Gongfu from July to December last year.

Contrary to his exploits as the leading top scorer in China, he failed to find the back of the net in 13 matches across all competitions during his time at Chiefs.
