French coach Denis Lavagne believes that Senegalese prodigy Ibrahim Mbaye will be Africa’s standout star at the 2026 World Cup.

“I’m particularly thinking of the young Senegalese Ibrahim Mbaye. The Paris Saint-Germain talent could be one of the sensations of the tournament. Despite his youth, he’s already accustomed to competing at the highest level, both for his club and his national team,” he told Foot Africa in response to a question about the African revelation expected at the 2026 World Cup.
