Exclusive: Denis Lavagne reveals his six favorites for the 2026 World Cup
According to French coach Denis Lavagne, six national teams are the front-runners to lift the trophy at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
"In my opinion, France, Spain, Brazil, and Argentina are the major contenders for the title. You can also add England and Germany to that list. Historically, eight nations have won the World Cup, and I believe we'll see one of them on the podium again," he told Foot Africa in an exclusive interview.

"To me, France looks like the most complete squad. Every position is covered twice, and their attacking options are especially impressive with players like Mbappé, Dembélé, Doué, Barcola, and Cherki. That said, talent alone doesn't always guarantee success. Back in 2002, France had an outstanding attack but failed to score in the group stage. Nothing is ever certain in football. Still, France boasts exceptional depth across all areas of the pitch," the French coach continued.
