FC Barcelona: Joan Laporta takes aim at Real Madrid
The war of words between the two giants of Spanish football is not about to end. Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona, has taken aim at Real Madrid.
In recent days, Real Madrid, through its channel, once again mentioned the famous "Negreira case". This refers in particular to the refereeing scandal in Spain involving FC Barcelona. The Madrid club also took the opportunity to criticise the refereeing during their 1-0 victory over Villarreal on Saturday evening.
Laporta slams Real Madrid
As if he knew what was going to happen, Barcelona president Joan Laporta had taken aim at Los Blancos on the subject earlier on Saturday morning. "In Madrid, they bring up other subjects to divert attention. Barça are currently enjoying a golden period: we are enjoying football, a very special moment in our history and international recognition. Nine of our players have been world champions, our team makes people dream, with world-class players in several positions. In Madrid, they are trying to minimise all of this. They are trying to discredit Barça. They oppose everything and everyone. This says a lot about a club that is losing its prestige, recognition and credibility at national and international level," the Blaugrana executive said during a press conference.
