France or Cameroon, Timothé Nkada has finally made his decision
In a recent interview, Timothé Nkada announced his decision to represent Cameroon. The 25-year-old has definitively ruled out the possibility of playing for France and openly made his intentions clear to Marc Brys without mincing words.
Born on July 20, 1999, in Lille, Timothé Nkada was developed at Stade Rennais before moving to Stade de Reims, where he made his Ligue 1 debut. He then gained experience in Denmark with Aalborg BK and in Slovenia with FC Koper, before signing with Rodez in Ligue 2 during the 2024 summer transfer window. With just a few games left in the 2024/2025 campaign, Nkada boasts 17 goals and 5 assists in Ligue 2 for Rodez.
The third highest scorer in France's second division, he has established himself as one of the season's breakout stars and is attracting attention from national team selectors. Despite appearances for France’s youth teams, the former Rennes striker has always maintained a strong connection with Cameroon, his father's homeland. Asked about his international future, Nkada left no room for doubt: he wants to wear the Cameroon jersey.
“Absolutely, it’s a goal of mine, I don’t hide it. It would be something huge to join the national team; we all know that historically, it’s a massive African team. It would be an honor. The AFCON and the World Cup are coming soon,” Timothé Nkada told Footmercato.
It’s very likely we’ll see the Rodez striker among the Indomitable Lions during the squad gathering in June for the FIFA international window. Behind-the-scenes talks are reportedly underway.
“I’ve already had some unofficial approaches from people who more or less handle dual nationals, but nothing official,” Nkada revealed.
