Friendly: Black Queens defeat Benin despite Aude Gbedjissi
Black Queens vs Amazones

The Black Queens triumphed over Benin 4-2 on June 25 in Benslimane, Morocco, in a friendly match as part of their build-up to the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations. After a game full of twists and turns, Ghana clinched the win thanks to two second-half goals.

Ghana continues its intense preparations for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for July 5–26, 2025. After a 2-0 victory over Malawi on June 21, the Ghanaians squared off against Benin this Wednesday, June 25, on Moroccan soil.

A second win that boosts confidence

Both teams showed total commitment. Nina Norshie broke the deadlock in just the 4th minute with an acrobatic finish. Benin quickly responded through Aude Gbedjissi, who scored from a free kick in the 11th minute. The top scorer of France’s Division 2 Feminine with Lens then completed her brace by converting a penalty in the 35th minute. The Amazons led 2-1 at halftime.

After the break, Alice Kusi leveled the score for Ghana in the 55th minute. Then, Susan Duah put the Black Queens ahead in the 70th, before Chantelle Hlorkah sealed the 4-2 victory for Ghana in the 81st. The Ghanaian side, gearing up for the upcoming WAFCON, managed to adjust their tactics in the second half. The Black Queens' next and final friendly of this training camp will be against Nigeria’s Super Falcons on June 29.
