According to reports, Liverpool have already used Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez to try and sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, whose recent loan spell with Galatasaray has come to an end.

Liverpool are aware of their needs at the striker position

Although the Premier League champions had a great season with their new Dutch coach, they do not want to enter the new season without signing new names and faces, especially in the “front line”. The Liverpool management wants this reinforcement in order to continue to compete against Manchester City, Manchester United, and Chelsea as well, and Liverpool has already signed Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz and now they are waiting for the distinguished Milos Kerkez to arrive at Anfield.

Recently, reports revealed that the Napoli president is aware of Liverpool's new interest in Victor Osimhen but wants Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez plus €20 million to offload the Nigerian.

Reports confirm Liverpool's interest in the deal

The race for Napoli’s star forward Victor Osimhen is heating up, with Liverpool emerging as serious contenders for his signature. According to reports, the Reds are exploring a high-profile exchange deal that could reshape their attacking lineup ahead of the new season.

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti revealed on June 17 that Liverpool are one of several top clubs monitoring Osimhen’s situation. The Nigerian striker, hailed as "the best striker in the world" by his national team coach Eric Chelle, has a €75 million (£64.2m, $86.4m) release clause in his Napoli contract.

However, negotiations may not be straightforward. Napoli are reportedly keen on two Liverpool players—Darwin Núñez and Federico Chiesa—as part of any potential deal. This could pave the way for a major swap agreement between the clubs.

Sources indicate that Liverpool are open to letting Núñez and Chiesa leave if it means securing Osimhen, a proven goalscorer who could elevate their frontline. The Uruguayan forward has shown flashes of brilliance but remains inconsistent, while Chiesa’s future has been uncertain due to injuries and competition for places.

If the deal materializes, Napoli would bolster their attack with two dynamic players, while Liverpool would land a world-class No. 9 to lead their charge for silverware.
