Ivorian football: UNDP joins FIF for a new ambition

The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are strengthening their exchanges with a view to future collaboration aimed at supporting the development of Ivorian football and further promoting gender equality in sport.

FIF and UNDP prepare new collaboration

With this in mind, FIF President Yacine Idriss Diallo received the UNDP Resident Representative in Côte d’Ivoire, Ms. Blerta Cela, on Tuesday late in the morning at the federation’s headquarters in Treichville.

Accompanied in particular by FIF First Vice-President Malick Tohé, Yacine Idriss Diallo discussed the various areas of this future cooperation with his guest. The discussions provided an opportunity to review several priority areas that could benefit from UNDP support.

The main areas identified include training and capacity building for FIF executives, as well as the training and supervision of young talents, for both boys and girls.

The development of women’s football also occupies an important place in this prospective collaboration. This notably involves creating better playing conditions and contributing to greater recognition of women’s football in Côte d’Ivoire.

Sports infrastructure, as well as the digitalisation of the Ivorian governing body’s administration, was also among the topics discussed during the meeting.

Through this initiative, FIF intends to continue modernising and developing national football, while placing significant emphasis on training, youth and the promotion of gender equality. The future collaboration with UNDP should thus open up new prospects for Ivorian football, both in sporting and administrative and institutional terms.
