La Liga: Shock as Atlético Madrid Falls to Getafe!

Sensation in Spain! While Barça did not play due to the postponement of their match against Osasuna following the tragic death of a member of their medical staff, Atlético Madrid had the opportunity to temporarily seize the top spot in the league.

To achieve this, the Colchoneros needed to win on the pitch of Getafe, a neighboring team always tough to handle.

A Cruel Scenario

Everything seemed to be going perfectly for Diego Simeone's men when, in the dying moments of the match, Alexander Sorloth converted a penalty, giving them the lead.

However, the momentum shifted with the expulsion of Angel Correa in the final minutes. Reduced to ten men, Atlético endured a nightmare end to the match. In four minutes, Mauro Arambarri first equalized with a powerful strike (88th minute), then scored a second goal in injury time (90+2nd minute).

With this 2-1 defeat, Atlético Madrid records their third loss of the season and misses a golden opportunity to take the lead. Real Madrid, who face Rayo Vallecano this afternoon, could take advantage to move ahead.
