Madrid derby: Javier Tebas rebukes Real over refereeing

On Sunday, Real Madrid were beaten by Atletico Madrid (1-2). Since then, the White House has pointed to refereeing to explain the defeat. The president of LaLiga has broken his silence on social media to attack Real Madrid in turn.

At a press conference, José Mourinho openly criticised refereeing in La Liga. The comments were not well received by La Liga president Javier Tebas. "To claim that referees are being directed against Real Madrid is to live in another galaxy. This narrative serves as an alibi to conceal other shortcomings that have been visible to the naked eye since the first matches of the season. It is more comfortable to point to a conspiracy than to explain what is happening on the pitch," the official wrote on social media.

He added: "Real Madrid are essential to La Liga. But claiming that 'La Liga is worth nothing' without them reveals contempt for the other clubs, their supporters and their history. The competition belongs to no one."
