Foot Africa has established that Mamelodi Sundowns have reached an agreement with French Ligue 1 outfit LOSC Lille for the transfer of Thato Sibiya.

The 20-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in South African football, owing to his eye-catching performances with Amajita in the youth ranks.

He was part of the Amajita squads that won the U20 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt and partook in the FIFA World Cup in Chile last year.

The highly-rated left-back has racked up a total of nine appearances at junior international level for South Africa - a testament to his qualities at full-back.

Notably, Sibiya earned promotion to the Sundowns first-team in January 2026 and went on to feature in four matches across all competitions last season.

While he has emerged as one of the promising talents in the Betway Premiership, Sibiya is yet to make the matchday squad in the 2026/27 season.

Now, sources have informed this publication the reigning African champions have sanctioned the player's exit to France after agreeing a deal with Lille.

The two parties are understood to have struck total agreement on an undisclosed fee, with the player expected to jet off to Europe this week.

Lille are also said to have enticed Sibiya, who has already completed his medical checks, with a lucrative offer to lure him to France, where he will hone his skills.

With the deal sealed, an announcement of the transfer is imminent according to information gathered by Foot Africa, as Sibiya embarks on a new journey.
