Renowned Italian journalist and transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed new details regarding Manchester City's interest in Algerian international defender Rayan Aït-Nouri.

In a post on his official account on platform X, Romano states that Manchester City have made enquiries about the conditions for a possible transfer of the 23-year-old player, who is currently under contract with Wolverhampton.

The English club sees him as one of the main options to strengthen the left side of their defense, thanks to his versatility and ability to play both as a full-back and as a winger.

Rayan Aït-Nouri has particularly shone this season with Wolves, catching the eye of Pep Guardiola. The Catalan manager is said to have been impressed by his performances and is urging the club’s board to take action as early as this summer.

Aït-Nouri’s season in numbers

During the 2024-2025 season, Rayan Aït-Nouri played 41 matches in all competitions for Wolverhampton. Despite his defensive role, he stood out for his offensive impact, netting 5 goals and providing 7 assists.

According to stats provided by Opta, Aït-Nouri is the most decisive defender in the Premier League this season—a performance that highlights his growth and potential at the highest level.

Rayan Aït-Nouri’s contract with Wolverhampton runs until June 2026. His market value is currently estimated at around £35 million, according to the specialist site Transfermarkt.
