Mauritania: two friendlies cancelled for the Mourabitounes

The Mauritanian Football Federation has officially revised its schedule for the March FIFA window. Originally, friendlies against Palestine and Liberia were on the cards, but both matches have now been cancelled. Only the fixture against Argentina remains on the agenda.

In a statement, the Mauritanian football governing body cited “regulatory and logistical constraints” tied to the international calendar. The tight schedule simply didn’t allow for the two initially announced matches to go ahead.

A high-profile clash still on

Despite these cancellations, the Mourabitounes won’t be sitting idle. They will face Argentina on March 27 in Buenos Aires in a prestigious friendly. This choice, though forced, allows Mauritania to focus on a top-tier showdown. It’s a clash against a global football powerhouse that will serve as a real test ahead of their upcoming official fixtures.
