Mercato: St Johnstone makes a decisive call on Aaron Essel
Aaron Essel

The young Ghanaian midfielder, Aaron Essel, will not be returning from his loan at St Johnstone. The Scottish club has decided to extend his loan spell.

Aaron Essel is currently playing in America. The club where he is on loan is North Texas, a team competing in MLS. The 19-year-old Ghana international joined the American side on loan in April to get regular first-team football.

Essel had the option to return to Scotland this summer, but St Johnstone has now taken that off the table. According to information from The Courriercouk, St Johnstone head coach Simo Valakari has decided not to recall Essel. The manager wants the 19-year-old to stay in America until the MLS NEXT Pro season wraps up in October.

To recap, Essel plays both as a midfielder and a defender. He remains under contract with the Saints until the summer of 2027.
