Mercato: unwanted at Rennes, Christopher Wooh could bounce back in Turkey
Sidelined at Rennes since the arrival of Habib Beye, Christopher Wooh could leave Rennes this summer, even though his contract runs until 2026. The Cameroonian defender has several suitors, with Trabzonspor currently leading the race for his signature.
Christopher Wooh was one of the pillars of Rennes’ defense during the 2024-2025 season. Starting 17 times in Ligue 1 (20 matches played, 1,458 minutes), he contributed to five clean sheets. However, under new coach Habib Beye, who arrived in January, Wooh gradually lost his place, falling out of the rotation in favor of Jeremy Jacquet.
Turkey, a serious option
Under contract until 2026, the 23-year-old Cameroon international is no longer part of the Senegalese coach’s plans. Rennes has already sanctioned several defensive departures and intends to part ways with players deemed surplus to requirements, including Wooh, who has featured in only two of the last twelve Ligue 1 matches. The club, currently streamlining its squad, hopes to recoup around €6 million from his transfer.
Given this context, Trabzonspor has stepped forward to attract the defender, while other German and English clubs are closely monitoring the situation. The Rennes management is waiting for a convincing offer, refusing to sell off a player they signed for a significant fee three years ago. Negotiations could accelerate in the coming weeks.
