Mourinho Furious! 'The Special One' clashes with Real Madrid

Jose Mourinho’s imminent Real Madrid return has hit early drama behind the scenes today after a massive transfer bid sparked immediate tension.

A pending return to the Bernabeu

While Real Madrid has yet to officially unveil Mourinho as their new manager, the wheels are firmly in motion.

According to recent announcements from Benfica, the Spanish giants have officially expressed their desire to bring the coach on board by meeting his €15 million buyout clause.

Mourinho has already agreed to the move paving the way for a sensational return to the Spanish capital.

However his second stint in charge is already generating serious friction before the contract is even signed.

Blindsided by a mega offer

The core of the current dispute centers around Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reports that Mourinho is furious with the Real Madrid directors for launching a high profile pursuit of the Argentine attacker without consulting him first.

The incoming manager reportedly does not view Alvarez as part of his tactical plans and is deeply frustrated that the club's leadership operated entirely behind his back.

Perez's ambition meets rival resistance

Recent reports across major sports networks confirm the massive scale of the transfer Mourinho is objecting to.

Club president Florentino Perez submitted a staggering €150 million (£129 million) bid for Alvarez looking to fulfill a recent election promise to deliver a new "Galactico" signing.

However, cross town rivals Atletico Madrid swiftly rejected the offer reaffirming their intent to keep their star player. This rejection might actually come as a major relief to Mourinho who is already fighting to establish control over the squad's future.

A familiar power struggle

This early clash perfectly mirrors the intense internal politics of Mourinho's first spell at Real Madrid over a decade ago.

During the 2010 /11 season, the "Special One" engaged in a bitter power struggle with then sporting director Jorge Valdano over the team's striker options.

Unhappy with Karim Benzema's form, Mourinho demanded a new target man and ultimately forced the board to sign Emmanuel Adebayor on loan, famously telling the press:

"If you can't go hunting with your dog, you have to take your cat"

The current conflict over Alvarez proves that Mourinho’s uncompromising demand for total transfer control remains exactly the same, setting the stage for an explosive reunion at the Bernabeu.
