OFFICIAL: Fagrie Lakay lands new club in North Africa
South African striker Fagrie Lakay has signed for Libyan giants Al-Ahli Tripoli from Egyptian Premier League side Ceramica Cleopatra.
The 29-year-old centre-forward has put pen to paper on a two-year deal that will keep him at the big spenders until June 2028.
During his time at Cleopatra, he scored 12 goals and provided 13 assists in 61 matches in all competitions across two spells.
Overall, the former Cape Town City talisman boasts of 66 goals with 38 assists in over 300 appearances in his club career.
Now, he is set for a new chapter with Al Ahli, where he will link up with Fiston Mayele, Jean-Claude Girimugisha, and Blati Toure, among others.
The 14-time Libyan champions are set to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup this season after clinching the Libyan cup in the 2025/26 season.
Al-Ahli will kickstart their continental campaign with a two-legged clash against KMKM SC of Zanzibar in the first preliminary round next month.
Whether the heavy recruitment of marquee players will lead the Libyan moneybags to continental glory eagerly remains to be seen.
