Hamburg SV may have found their new center forward. According to Nice-Matin, the German club and OGC Nice have reached an agreement for the transfer of Terem Moffi. However, the deal is not yet official.

Moffi, solid Ligue 1 experience

Nigerian international Terem Moffi knows the French league inside out. He has played 148 Ligue 1 matches, scoring 54 goals and providing 12 assists. It was with FC Lorient that the striker truly made his name, before moving to Nice in January 2023 for around €22.5 million. But his time on the Côte d’Azur was disrupted by a cruciate ligament rupture, which sidelined him for several months during the 2024-2025 season.

In November 2025, his relationship with Nice also soured after a confrontation with fans at the training ground. Moffi filed a complaint following the incident. Loaned to FC Porto in January 2026, he was unable to reignite his career in Portugal, contributing to just three goals in 15 appearances. On his return to Nice, he was excluded from the first team, despite his contract running until June 2027.

The profile Hamburg are looking for

Terem Moffi could become HSV’s seventh summer signing. Coach Merlin Polzin was eager to bolster his attack with a center forward who can provide more physical presence in the box. The 27-year-old striker still needs to agree personal terms with HSV and pass his medical examination.

He would be reunited with Patson Daka, another striker who joined this summer aiming to revive his career. Moffi’s adaptation and his first weeks with Hamburg will be crucial in answering that question.
