OGC Nice: Nathan Ngoumou joins Les Aiglons to reignite his career

OGC Nice officially announced on Monday, August 17, 2026, the signing of Nathan Ngoumou from Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 26-year-old Cameroonian forward joins the Côte d’Azur side after four seasons in the Bundesliga. A versatile attacker, mainly deployed on the right wing thanks to his pace and explosiveness, he brings another offensive option to the Nice squad.

This marks a fresh start for Ngoumou as he returns to Ligue 1 by signing with OGC Nice. Trained at Toulouse FC, Nathan Ngoumou is back in the French top flight, which he left in the summer of 2022. It was at TFC that he truly made a name for himself, particularly during the 2021-2022 season, which ended with the Ligue 2 title. That year, the forward played a key role in Toulouse’s triumph, scoring 8 goals and providing 4 assists, catching the eye of several European clubs.

He ultimately chose Borussia Mönchengladbach. Over four seasons in Germany, Ngoumou made 78 appearances, registering 9 goals and 5 assists. These numbers highlight his consistent presence in the German squad, although adaptation and fierce competition sometimes prevented him from fully showcasing his attacking potential.

His last season, however, was heavily disrupted by an Achilles tendon injury that kept him off the pitch. Now fully recovered, the Cameroonian insists he’s regained his physical form and is eager to use his move to Nice to get his career back on track.

Nice banking on his pace and versatility

OGC Nice sees Ngoumou as a player who can add a new dimension to their attack. His explosiveness, ability to make runs in behind, and versatility across the front line are all assets sought after by the club. Sporting director Roger Ricot also emphasized his knack for scoring, creating, and playing for the team.

"He can make the difference, score, and set up his teammates. He’s a team player—a different profile from what we already had," he stressed.

Nice president Maurice Cohen also made clear the objective behind this signing: to help Ngoumou restart his career while strengthening the club’s attacking options. Early talks with the player are said to have convinced club officials of his motivation to join the Côte d’Azur side.

Two caps for Cameroon

Internationally, Nathan Ngoumou has earned two caps for Cameroon. His spell in the Bundesliga also allowed him to gain valuable experience in a top European league after launching his professional career in France.

He arrives looking to rediscover consistency after a 2025-2026 season hampered by injury and to fully exploit the qualities that made him one of Ligue 2’s most watched young forwards in 2021-2022. For Ngoumou and OGC Nice alike, this new chapter is a chance to revive a career trajectory that was stalled by injuries.
