Official: Ibrahima Ba signs with Sporting Lisbon until 2031

A stunning twist in the Portuguese transfer market. After his move to Strasbourg fell through, Ibrahima Ba is joining Sporting Lisbon. The 21-year-old defender leaves Famalicão and signs a contract that will keep him with the "Lions" until 2031.

A perfect deal

The details of the deal have not been disclosed. However, according to Record, Sporting agreed to pay the €20 million requested by Famalicão. The Portuguese club also accepted a 15% sell-on clause for any future transfer. Thus, the young defender has committed to a five-year contract with the Portuguese giants, tying him to the club until 2031.

Strasbourg setback in the past

A transfer to Strasbourg was expected and Ba even traveled to France to finalize the move. An agreement worth €20 million was reached with Famalicão. But the deal collapsed at the last minute. The Alsatian club reported that the defender failed his medical. However, his agent strongly denied this and accused Strasbourg of attempting to renegotiate and lower the transfer fee.

Strong record at Famalicão

After a season in which he played 24 matches, scored one goal, and provided one assist, Ibrahima Ba now joins Sporting, a club betting on youth to strengthen its back line ahead of the new campaign. The Senegalese defender is set to discover the thrill of the Champions League.
