Real Madrid: Mbappé and China, José Mourinho's view

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, José Mourinho wanted to put the controversy between Kylian Mbappé and China behind him.

While the Real Madrid striker’s comments about Mao Zedong sparked a diplomatic incident and several advertising contract terminations, José Mourinho praised the response from his player and his club. "I am calm because my club is Real Madrid and my player is Kylian Mbappé. I am at ease because both had the class to react immediately. On the subject of China... this is the danger of today's world, where very often the best thing is not to open your mouth. (...) He reacted in the right way, with class," he explained.

The Special One endorses Harry Kane for the Ballon d'Or

Speaking about the 2026 Ballon d'Or, José Mourinho did not hide his emotion after Harry Kane was crowned. The Real Madrid coach, who managed the English striker at Tottenham, was delighted to see his former player win the ultimate individual accolade.

"I had the privilege of working with Harry. He is a great player, a great professional and a great person. Despite the frustration of seeing my player fail, I am very happy for Kane. He is a player and a man who, at his age, deserves to experience this joy and crown his career in this way," Mourinho said.
