Bamba Dieng leads Red Star to victory with a hat-trick

Bamba Dieng enjoyed an exceptional evening in Serbia. The Senegalese striker scored a hat-trick in Red Star Belgrade’s 4-2 victory away to Mačva Šabac on Saturday. It was a decisive performance that enabled the Serbian champions to leave with all three points after surrendering a two-goal lead.

A perfect start for Dieng

Red Star quickly took control of the match thanks to their Senegalese striker. In the 16th minute, Bamba Dieng followed up a first effort from Vladimir Lučić that was parried by the opposing goalkeeper to open the scoring. Thirteen minutes later, he struck again. Well served by Timi Max Elšnik, the former OM striker found the net once more to put his team 2-0 up. But the hosts did not give up. Mačva pulled a goal back before half-time, then managed to equalise in the second half, taking advantage of the visitors’ defensive hesitations.

With Red Star under pressure, Bamba Dieng took matters into his own hands. In the 84th minute, perfectly set up by Kim, the Senegalese scored his third goal of the evening to restore his side’s lead. Two minutes later, Elšnik put the visitors’ victory beyond doubt by making it 4-2. Thanks to his clinical finishing, Dieng was the architect of this victory, scoring his first hat-trick in Red Star colours.

Promising beginnings in Serbia

Having arrived last August, the Senegalese striker is gradually confirming his importance within the Belgrade squad. He now has five goals in seven SuperLiga appearances since his arrival. This hat-trick represents an important step in his adaptation to the Serbian league.

After this performance, Bamba Dieng and his teammates can now turn their attention to their next Conference League fixture, with Inter Escaldes visiting. The evening in Šabac above all confirmed the Senegalese striker’s growing influence.
