Clasico: José Mourinho celebrated at Camp Nou
Last Sunday, Real Madrid’s victory at FC Barcelona sparked immense joy in the Madrid dressing room.
This victory in the season’s first Clasico allowed José Mourinho to strengthen his bond with his players. According to revelations by journalist Jesús Gallego on the El Larguero programme, the Real Madrid players reportedly arranged a special celebration for their coach after the final whistle. “I was told that the other day, at the end of the match, in the Real Madrid dressing room at Camp Nou, the players threw José Mourinho into the air,” he explained.
For Gallego, it was “a genuine demonstration of the unity between the team and the coach”, as Mourinho had managed to get the tactical upper hand over Hansi Flick’s FC Barcelona.
A success that recalls history
Last Sunday’s celebration recalled several memorable moments from José Mourinho’s first spell in charge of Real Madrid. That was between 2010 and 2013. In 2011, after Real Madrid’s victory over Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final (1-0), his players had already carried him off in triumph. A similar scene took place in 2012, when Los Merengues secured the Spanish league title.
