Official: The kick-off date for the 2025/2026 Tunisian Ligue 1 is set!

The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) released an official statement this Monday, announcing the start date for the 2025-2026 professional Ligue 1 season. The competition will officially get underway on August 9 and 10, 2025, following decisions made by the competitions committee.

This season opener comes after a play-off match scheduled for July 27 between Union Sportive Monastirienne and Stade Tunisien. The winner of this clash will go on to face Espérance Sportive de Tunis in the Tunisian Super Cup final, set for August 3, 2025.

As for Ligue 2, the Federation has scheduled the championship restart for September 20 and 21, 2025.

US Monastir requests play-off postponement

Meanwhile, USMO spokesperson Ali Bahouri told a private radio station this Sunday that his club has officially asked the Federation to postpone the play-off against Stade Tunisien, citing the delicate timing.

According to him, the July 27 date coincides with a crucial phase of summer preparations. The club believes that playing such a high-stakes match at that time could impact the players’ physical condition and disrupt their preparation schedule.

“We want to provide our squad with the best possible conditions ahead of the new season. Postponing the match would help avoid any overload or injuries,” Bahouri emphasized.
