OM: A Russian club lines up for Azzedine Ounahi
Azzedine Ounahi

The future of Moroccan midfielder Azzedine Ounahi remains unresolved. Olympique de Marseille and a Russian club are said to have reached an agreement.

Azzedine Ounahi was loaned to Panathinaikos until June 30. He is now set to return to OM this summer, as Panathinaikos' management will not trigger Ounahi's €11.5 million buyout clause. As a result, the Moroccan international will be back in Marseille on July 1.

Alerted by Ounahi's situation—still unwanted at OM—Spartak Moscow has reportedly moved to secure his signature. According to L'Equipe, the Russian club opened talks with OM in recent days, and a deal worth €12 million is believed to have already been struck.

Both clubs now reportedly need the green light from the 25-year-old midfielder to finalize the move. However, Azzedine Ounahi is said to be less than enthusiastic about the prospect of playing in Russia—at least for now.
