Former Manchester United and England national team player Owen Hargreaves has named Mohamed Salah as the clear favorite to win the 2025 Ballon d'Or, awarded to the world's best player.

Speaking on BT Sports, Hargreaves said: "Salah and Raphinha have very similar statistics in terms of goals and assists, which is impressive."

He continued: "Winning major titles is essential to hope for the Ballon d'Or. For now, Salah is in the best position, but Raphinha is not far behind."

The captain of the Egyptian national team thus stands out as the main contender for the prestigious trophy after an exceptional season in the Premier League.

Scoring 32 goals and providing 22 assists across all competitions, he boasts the best statistics among players in the five major European leagues.
