Sidnei Tavares bounces back in England

It’s official. Sidnei Tavares is leaving Portugal to return to England.

The Cape Verde international has signed with Blackburn Rovers, a Championship (English second division) side, on a three-year deal. The English club announced the news on its social media this weekend. The transfer, valued at €2 million, marks a new chapter in the 23-year-old midfielder’s career.

After making his name at Moreirense in Portugal, where he established himself as a key midfield presence, Tavares will now look to bring his technical skill and physicality to a Blackburn side aiming for promotion. The player, who featured for Portugal’s youth teams before opting to represent Cape Verde at senior level, is returning to a league he knows well.
