Slavia Prague: Igoh Ogbu undergoes successful surgery

Slavia Prague's Nigerian defender, Igoh Ogbu, has undergone successful surgery after suffering a serious Achilles tendon injury during the recent international break with the Super Eagles.

The central defender was injured while on duty with the Nigerian national team in June. Subsequent medical examinations confirmed a ruptured Achilles tendon—a particularly dreaded injury among footballers due to the lengthy rehabilitation it requires.

Successful operation in Prague

In recent days, Ogbu underwent surgery at the Central Military Hospital in Střešovice, Prague. According to statements from the Czech club, the procedure was successful and the player has now started his recovery process.

Slavia Prague sent a message of support to their defender, wishing him a speedy recovery and an even stronger return to the pitch.

A heavy blow for Slavia's defense

A key pillar at the back for the Prague club, the Nigerian is expected to be out of action for around three months before he can even resume team training. This is a significant absence for the Czech champions, who are losing one of their main defensive leaders.

Fully aware of the impact of this setback, Slavia Prague has already moved in the transfer market to strengthen competition within the squad and compensate for the loss of their central defender.

The club is now hoping to see their Nigerian international return to full fitness at the end of his rehabilitation.
