South Africa: Danny Jordaan re-elected as SAFA president until 2030

South African football remains in the hands of its long-serving leader. On Saturday 12 September 2026, Dr Danny Jordaan was resoundingly re-elected as president of the South African Football Association (SAFA) following the Elective General Assembly.

A landslide victory in the first round

The final result is indisputable and reflects strong support for Danny Jordaan’s track record and vision. Of the 239 votes cast by delegates, the 75-year-old secured 157 votes. His sole rival, Sandile Zungu, received 82. With nearly two-thirds of the votes, this victory confirms the confidence placed in the leader and his strong standing within South African football.

Looking ahead to 2030

Dr Danny Jordaan is thus set to begin a new four-year term at the helm of SAFA. He has been president since 2013. His wealth of experience and his international connections within CAF and FIFA are his strengths. From youth development to raising the profile of the Premier Soccer League and the Bafana Bafana, all areas are on the agenda.
