Former Al-Ettifaq manager Steven Gerrard has made a bold statement about the quality of the Saudi league. According to him, some teams in the Saudi Pro League could go toe-to-toe with those in the Premier League.

The ex-Liverpool FC midfielder claims that the top four teams in the Saudi league would be able to hold their own in the Premier League:

The top four teams in our league could keep their place in the Premier League. They'd be able to compete with mid-table and lower-table English clubs.

He goes even further, suggesting these teams could easily thrive at the top of the Championship, England’s second division:

They're strong enough to immediately challenge at the top of the Championship.
