Surpassing Mbappe and Vinicius: Lamine Yamal’s historic stats place him top of La Liga

Lamine Yamal delivered another standout performance on Saturday 11 April scoring and assisting twice in Barcelona’s win over Espanyol as the 17 year old continues to dominate headlines in La Liga with numbers that now place him ahead of some of Europe’s biggest stars.

Decisive display in Catalan derby

Yamal was at the center of everything Barcelona did well in the Catalan derby. He found the net, created two goal and consistently disrupted Espanyol’s defense with direct running and close control.

It was not just about end product. His ability to take on defenders repeatedly gave Barcelona a constant attacking outlet especially in one on one situations where he looked unplayable at times.

Dribbling numbers highlight his impact

According to Mundo Deportivo, Yamal completed 16 dribble across Barcelona’s last two match against Atletico Madrid & Espanyol.

That figure stands out even more when compared to Real Madrid’s attacking stars. Kylian Mbappe & Vinicius Junior combined for 13 dribble in their recent matches against Bayern Munich and Girona.. fewer than Yamal managed alone over the same period.

With his latest goal, Yamal has now reached 15 goal in La Liga placing him fourth in the scoring charts.. a remarkable return for a player still in his teenage years.

Barcelona currently hold a nine point lead at the top of La Liga putting them in a strong position to secure the title.

If they complete the job, Yamal could claim his third league title before turning 19, further underlining the scale of his early achievements.
