According to several African media sources, Libyan club Al Ahli Tripoli has reached an agreement to secure the services of Angolan striker Gelson Dala, who arrives from Al-Wakrah SC (Qatar). The deal was finalized as part of a three-year contract.

Well-known South African journalist Mickey Junior confirmed the news on his official X account, quoting a statement from the Libyan club president, Mr. Mohammed Al Mashay, who announced the official arrival of the 28-year-old player.

In his post, Mickey Junior specified:

"The Libyan giants Al Ahli Tripoli are set to sign the talented Angolan striker Gelson Dala for three years from Al-Wakrah SC, as confirmed by respected club president Mr. Mohammed Al Mashay.
Dala has scored 26 goals in 53 matches in the Qatar Stars League.
He has previously played for Primeiro de Agosto, Sporting CP, Rio Ave, and Antalyaspor.
For the Angolan national team, he has 21 goals in 51 appearances, and he was his team’s standout player at the last AFCON.
A prestigious signing for Al Ahli Tripoli."

Gelson Dala was, however, close to joining Zamalek during the last winter transfer window. The Egyptian club wanted to bring him in on loan until the end of the 2025-2026 season. Nevertheless, after discussions between intermediaries, the player, and the Qatari club, the Angolan striker decided to turn down the offer from the Cairo Whites.

This season, Gelson Dala has played 20 matches in all competitions for Al-Wakrah, netting 9 goals and providing 6 assists, confirming his attacking prowess.
