Transfer market: Troyes sets sights on Issa Kaboré for Ligue 1 return

After sealing their return to Ligue 1, clubESTAC Troyes is moving decisively to strengthen its squad ahead of the new campaign. According to several sources, the club has set its sights on Issa Kaboré to fill the right-back position.

The interest in Issa Kaboré is no coincidence; the Burkinabe defender is already familiar with the club’s environment. He previously played for Troyes on loan from Manchester City during the 2021-2022 season, where he first experienced the French top flight.

Issa Kaboré has come a long way since then. The 25-year-old right-back delivered a standout season in the Championship with Wrexham, racking up eight assists in the English second division and playing a key role in the Welsh club’s remarkable campaign. His performances and maturity have impressed Troyes, but the deal is far from straightforward—Wrexham is eager to keep hold of the player, who has become a crucial figure in their lineup.

The other stumbling block could be financial, with reports suggesting that Manchester City, who still own the defender’s contract, is demanding a fee between €5 and €8 million to sanction his departure.
