Southampton have taken action and submitted a €1 million bid for Malian talent Issa Tounkara.

Chased by several clubs, the future of the Mali U17 national team captain could soon be written in England. Africa Foot reports that Southampton are in pole position to sign the dynamic box-to-box midfielder, who was a finalist at the last U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

The English club has put €1 million on the table for the Académie des Étoiles du Mande. The youth academy is said to have given its approval, and Tounkara, born in 2008, is expected in England to sign his first professional contract.
