U17 AFCON: Senegal secures its ticket to the quarters... and the World Cup!

Mission accomplished for Senegal's talented U17 squad! By defeating Somalia 2-0 on the final day of Group C, the African champions secured their qualification for the U17 AFCON quarter-finals, as well as for the U17 World Cup to be held in Qatar.

This marks the third consecutive time that Senegal's Lion Cubs will participate in this prestigious global tournament, following the 2019 and 2023 editions.

Facing a Somali team already eliminated, Pape Ibrahima Faye's men showed no nerves. To inject fresh energy, the coach notably started Elhadji Baytir Fall and El Hadji Malick Cissé.

This strategy paid off as Senegal dominated the match from start to finish. The score was opened in the 29th minute by Sorry, before Sow doubled the lead in stoppage time (93rd minute).

With this logical victory, the Lion Cubs finish second in their group and confirm their rise in power.

With solidity, mastery, and efficiency, the young Senegalese clearly display their ambitions on the African stage... awaiting to shine in Qatar.
