World champions in 1999 in Nigeria, Spain returns to the final stage of the U20 World Cup with the ambition of reclaiming the crown.

Spain secured their U20 World Cup berth by reaching the second round of the U19 Euro, following a hard-fought draw against France (2-2) on matchday 3.
