"We need Osimhen at Manchester United," says former Red Devil Rio Ferdinand
Victor Osimhen is at the center of a transfer battle even before the summer window opens. Manchester United is among his leading suitors. As the English club struggles to capitalize on their chances in the Premier League, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand urges the Red Devils to do everything possible to recruit the Nigerian striker.
Currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, Victor Osimhen is having an outstanding season with 28 goals in 32 appearances. This remarkable performance has caught the attention of several major European clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea. In January, the Mancunians attempted to sign Osimhen, but this first attempt ended in failure.
Victor Osimhen, a necessity for Manchester United according to Rio Ferdinand
On his YouTube channel "Rio Ferdinand Presents," the former Red Devils defender (2002-2014) discussed the importance for Manchester United to bolster their offensive line with a world-class striker like Victor Osimhen.
"We need Osimhen, we need experience, we need someone who knows how to score. Someone who can show these young Manchester United forwards how it's done. If I'm Manchester United, I make sure this happens. I'm looking for someone who knows the football pitch at the elite level and knows how to score consistently at the elite level. That's what Osimhen has done," said the former Manchester United captain.
The transfer of the 26-year-old Nigerian player represents a colossal investment. His contract with Napoli includes a release clause estimated at around 75 million euros (64 million pounds sterling). Despite financial constraints, Ferdinand believes this investment is necessary to restore Manchester United's competitiveness. Indeed, nothing seems to shake his conviction that the Super Eagles star is the man the Red Devils need.
"Yes, Osimhen hasn't played in the Premier League, but I don't care. I think he scores wherever he goes," claims Rio Ferdinand.
