Will he join Al Hilal for the Club World Cup? .. Mahrez breaks his silence
Algerian star Riyad Mahrez, player of Al-Ahli Jeddah, has responded to rumors about a possible loan to Al-Hilal, ahead of the club’s participation in the FIFA Club World Cup scheduled for next June.
Appearing on the television show Action Ma Walid, the Greens' captain was unequivocal:
"No, I will not play for Al Hilal. I will play only for Al-Ahli. Al-Ahli, nothing else."
Numbers that speak: Mahrez shines in the Saudi Pro League
Last Saturday, Mahrez once again made headlines by curling home a sensational direct free kick, playing a key role in his team's emphatic victory over Al-Kholood (4-1) on Matchday 32 of the championship.
Asked about his prowess from set pieces, the 34-year-old responded modestly: "I'm not Beckham... Sometimes I score from free kicks, but I don't train for them specifically. We try, we work, and thanks to God, things go well."
According to the specialist site SofaScore, Mahrez earned a rating of 7.9/10 and was named man of the match. He boasts an impressive record this season in the Saudi Pro League with 18 decisive contributions: 8 goals and 10 assists.
