Spain and England have faced off in four different finals across various categories over the past three years. Another clash could be on the horizon next Sunday in the final of the World Cup.

La Roja defeated France (2-0) on Tuesday night in the World Cup 2026 semifinal, becoming the first team to secure a spot in the tournament's final. Their opponent will be determined tonight after the second semifinal between Argentina and England (7:00 PM GMT).

A Spain vs England final would reinforce a growing trend: these two national teams have become regular rivals in recent years.

In fact, England won the 2023 UEFA Men's Under-21 Euro final against Spain (1-0). That same year, the Spanish women's team lifted the World Cup by defeating the Lionesses (1-0).

Spain and England also contested the Euro 2024 final, with the Iberian side coming out on top with a 2-1 win. Nico Williams (47') and Mikel Oyarzabal (86') scored for La Roja, while Cole Palmer had leveled the match for the Three Lions in the 73rd minute.

As for the 2025 Women's Euro final, Spain triumphed in a penalty shootout (1-1 after extra time, 3-1 on penalties) on July 27, 2025, at Basel's Parc Saint-Jacques in Switzerland.

Should Spain and England meet in the final, it would mark the fifth time in just three years that these two nations have squared off in a championship match.
