World Cup 2026: Karim Benzema with France? It's official!

The prospect of Karim Benzema returning to the French national team has been fueling debates ever since Zinedine Zidane took charge, but some pundits are refusing to give fans false hope. Among them is Walid Acherchour, who has been particularly clear on the matter. For him, that chapter is well and truly closed.

"I thought the France team chapter was over for Karim Benzema after 2022," he stated,

reminding everyone that the striker had already distanced himself after the World Cup in Qatar.

Still, Acherchour acknowledges the almost unbreakable bond between Benzema and Zidane, forged at Real Madrid:

"We all know that if Zidane calls, Benzema won't refuse anything to his former coach," he noted.

But his verdict remains unchanged:

"I think that chapter is definitely closed and he needs to move on."

A firm opinion that reflects the belief that the international career of the 2022 Ballon d'Or winner now belongs to the past.
