Belgium must wait once again to hope for a World Cup triumph. The Red Devils were knocked out in the quarterfinals of the World Cup by Spain (1-2) on Friday night at Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium.

With this elimination, Belgium confirms a troubling statistic in World Cup history. In fact, only Mexico (18) has more tournament appearances than Belgium (15) without ever lifting the trophy.

Despite having talented players like Leandro Trossard, Youri Tielemans, Charles De Ketelaere and Jérémy Doku, as well as experienced stars such as Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, the Red Devils have once again disappointed their supporters.

Mexico, one of this edition's three host nations, was eliminated in the round of 16 by England after a narrow 3-2 defeat.

For the record, Brazil (5), Germany and Italy (4), Argentina (3), France and Uruguay (2) are the most decorated teams in the tournament's history.
