Egypt will have to do without two key players for their clash against Australia, scheduled for next Friday in the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup.

Fattouh and Abdelmonem ruled out against the Socceroos

Ahmed Fattouh and Mohamed Abdelmonem will miss the high-stakes showdown between Egypt and Australia.

According to information provided by Mohamed Abou El Ala, the Egyptian national team’s doctor, on the official website of the Egyptian Football Federation, Ahmed Fattouh is suffering from a hamstring tear. Meanwhile, Mohamed Abdelmonem has sustained an ankle injury following a severe collision.

The medical staff has thus confirmed the absence of both players for this crucial World Cup 2026 fixture.

The match between Egypt and Australia will take place on Friday, July 3, kicking off at 18:00 GMT at Dallas Stadium in Texas, USA.

Mohamed Salah’s teammates secured their spot in the round of 16 by finishing second in Group G, just behind Belgium on goal difference.

The Pharaohs punched their ticket to the knockout stage after drawing with Belgium (1-1) and Iran (1-1), and clinching a vital win over New Zealand (3-1).
