New Zealand made history by securing its qualification for the 2026 World Cup, after a 3-0 victory over New Caledonia, in the final of the Oceania qualifiers, held this Monday morning, March 24, at "Eden Park" stadium in New Zealand.
Officially... New Zealand, the fifth team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup!
With this victory, New Zealand becomes the second country to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in North America, after Japan, in addition to the host countries: Canada, the United States, and Mexico, who have already secured their direct participation without going through qualifiers.
This qualification allows New Zealand to achieve a historic feat by reaching the World Cup for the third time in its history, after its participation in 1982 and 2010.
On the other hand, Japan also secured its qualification for the same competition after a 2-0 victory over Bahrain, in a match played at "Saitama" stadium as part of the seventh day of the Asian qualifiers.
It is worth noting that the 2026 World Cup will begin on June 11, 2026, and will take place over a period of about a month, with the final scheduled for July 19, 2026.
