🔴 Elite One Cameroon: referees withdraw from the championship! (Official)
Cameroonian football is going through one of its most severe crises! After the withdrawal of two first division clubs, it's now the referees' turn to slam the door.
This Tuesday, April 22, the Cameroonian Association of Football Referees (ACAF) officially announced, via a statement signed by its president Alioum Sidi, the immediate suspension of all participation in competitions organized by the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot).
A decision affecting all divisions
This decision, which impacts all divisions – Elite One, Elite Two, women's football, futsal, beach soccer, and local leagues – is motivated by the non-payment of bonuses due for four seasons, despite a government subsidy of 350 million FCFA (approximately 533,000 euros) meant to cover arbitration fees for the current year.
The ACAF condemns the inaction of Fecafoot, chaired by Samuel Eto'o, and asserts that no serious dialogue has been initiated to resolve the situation.
Referees demand concrete measures from Eto'o and Fecafoot
The referees, tired of unfulfilled promises, demand concrete actions before any return to the field.
This strike occurs in an already very tense climate. Djiko FC and Bamboutos de Mbouda, two elite clubs, had already announced their withdrawal from the championship, denouncing the current governance. Video:
Caught in the storm, Fecafoot sees its sporting calendar seriously compromised. Meanwhile, the men in black maintain the pressure, continuing their preparations off the field.
